Very few companies get the implementation of new technology completely right the first time around, and LG seems to be no exception with its new Super Multi Blue Player which is designed to play high definition DVD’s in both HD-DVD and Blu-ray formats. That’s according to a journalist with USA Today.

The new blu-ray DVD disks introduced by the TDK Corporation are the BD-R25, BD-R50, BD-RE25 and BD-RE50. TDK BD-R25 and BD-R50 are “write-once” discs while the other two BD-RE25 and BD-RE50 are the “rewritable” blu-ray disks. TDK (BD-R25) is single layered and single sided blu-ray disk with capacity of 25GB. TDK (BD-R50) is also single layered and single sided blu-ray disk with more recording capacity of 50GB. BD-RE25 is dual layered, single sided blu-ray disk having 25GB recording capacity. BD-RE50 is also dual layered, single sided blu-ray disk having twice the recording capacity of 50GB.

HDTV owners are faced with a very real challenge when it comes to figuring out what to watch on their new High Def sets. After all, with only a handful of HDTV channels available from most service providers and the fact that the high def DVD format war is still very much undecided (though a lot of indications point towards Sony’s Blu-ray format coming out on top), it can be pretty difficult to figure out where to get a decent amount of high def programming. At least it’s a lot better than it was a few years ago before high def DVD’s were available at all, and HDTV channels were even more limited!
