Specifications: The Samsung BD P1600 is a Profile 2.0 Blu-ray player that decodes both Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD audio onboard. This eliminates the need to get a separate audio receiver. It is also wi-fi ready, but to take an advantage of the wi-fi connectivity, you will need to get a separate USB wi-fi device that is sold separately. This Samsung Blu ray player is considered an entry-level model.
The two brands are believed to be electronic giants of the world. Both have created and manufactured quality appliances and devices that they now earned top spots in Home Entertainment Industry. Continuing to give high-class electronics, Sony and Samsung leads the 40-inch LCD TV world. Here is a good analysis of how Sony Bravia KDL-40W4000 competes with Samsung LE40A656 LCD TV.
Both appear to provide quality entertainment thus both competing for the top spot. These 40-inch LCD flat screens are Full High Definition televisions with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. They are also equipped with 16:9 aspect ratio since they are both widescreen TVs. Both offer 500 cd/ms screen brightness as well. Analogue and digital tuners are integrated in the system too making the competition even hotter.
The market for large screen TVs is on a rapid growth as their prices have dropped significantly over the past few years. While a few years ago buying a large screen plasma TV would mean you had to pay through the nose, you can now buy a modern unit for as low as $1,200 in online shops. Plasma TVs together with projection TV sets are the only solutions offering large screens, superb resolution and image quality for affordable prices. There are LCD TVs that have huge diagonals but they are built on very new, very expensive technologies. While you can find plasma TV sales as low as $1,200, larger models, that use the latest available technologies, can be sold for as much as over $8,000. However, these very expensive models are aimed at large conference halls and the business sector and cheaper, more affordable models offer the same image quality and sound output.

| Review by Dave (California) 2010-06-22 Bought one of these units. Works fine as a Blu-ray player. However, I was excited about the DLNA support - and was hoping it was similar to the support Sony builds into their PS3 units. However, although the interface and functionality is similar to the PS3 (albeit "cheaper" looking), the BDP-BX37 does not .support the formats the PS3 does (or even... Read more reviews | ||

| Review by Robert D. Keller (Acworth, Ga. USA) 2010-07-08 I was looking at the Oppo BD-83 for a while. I waited, because I don't think paying 500.00 for a Blu-Ray player was worth it. I knew the Sony 1000ES was 700.00. So, I still was hesitant. I wanted a player that did what a player is suppose to do, just play discs, with GREAT picture and Audio. Bells and whistles belong on Cell Phones, even though thi... Read more reviews | ||

| Review by E. Haley (CA) 2010-06-17 This player does not stream Netflix or Amazon on demand. Unless you really need wireless (although i can't see the point with this player if you cant stream any internet content), I'd suggest a cheaper DVD player. Or skip the DVD player all together and buy a ROKU...which is what i ended up doing after 3 failed attempts at buying one that played ... Read more reviews | ||

| Review by xLEO (Arvada, Colorado United States) 2010-07-16 This was our first Blu-ray player and I have been very impressed with the unit. The wireless connectivity was very easy to setup and has worked very well with Netflix for streaming titles and accessing other online content. The picture quality of Blu-ray is striking compared to DVD when viewed on our Pioneer plasma HDTV(we have an older model Pio... Read more reviews | ||

| Review by Doug Pardee (USA) 2010-07-20 I have a Sony large-screen TV that's pretty darned good. A Sony home theater system-in-a-box that's okay. But the BDP-S570 doesn't work. I've spent a month, a lot of time on the phone with Sony, and extra money for networking equipment; I've replaced the unit I had for another, and it's still DOA. I've returned the replacement unit for a refund, an... Read more reviews | ||
