March 2010

Home video games consoles have been around since Magnavox first released the Odyssey in 1972. Since that time, the video game has overcome its share of adversity, surviving two periods of uncertainty and market crashes in 1977 and 1983, which cast doubts over the future of the industry.

In recent years however, the video games industry has gone from strength to strength, and the competition between developers is fierce. New technologies have driven games consoles away from the game cartridge format, as used by such consoles as the Nintendo SNES and Sega Megadrive towards a compact-disc format as used by today’s generation of consoles - a technology pioneered by Sega’s Saturn system. However, it was the launch of Sony’s Playstation in Japan in 1994, and Europe a year later which really made home video gaming popular.

We just bought this unit on sale yesterday for $ 200. Our primary objective was something that could use Netflix to watch on our TV or DVD player older than replace. So far it's been great. We were able to connect to Netflix suffered - from the players receive Netflix direction to the activation page. We obtain an activation code from the reader and enter the website, and you're done! The player takes the movie in your "watch instantly" queue. Mine needed cleaning - sometimes adding movies to the main line and picked up a warning "immediately" the tail, and sometimes not. It seems that the Netflix player uses the same player who is better, but fast forward and rewind, not as effective as a DVR. The firmware update, it took two attempts to find a job - we hung the "do the upgrade" of the page. Powering off and after the upgrade has worked well. Ironically we did not play Bl

The temporary loss of sound / audio. Occasional freezing and / or jumping. The same problems as the predecessor of the BD60 that the same chip used. Despite the problems of updating the firmware. Very good image quality with both BD and SD. It would be an excellent player if that player does not have these problems. Was back.

I decided my home wireless is a Linksys Wireless WRT545G save $ $ using a WGA54G Gaming Adapter, as a bridge instead of a bridge to link normal, I recommend leaving a Linksys technician is an external use to fix your computer and it works well with a couple of minutes, the firmware update was downloaded, I was on Viera Cast attached my Picasa Web Albums and link my Amazon Viera cast by register my registration code generated Blu-Ray Viera Cast-to Amazon Video On Demand was able to get YouTube, which is my local weather by default.       Bought one of these units. Works fine as a Blu-ray player. However, I was excited about the DLNA support - and was hoping it was similar to the support Sony builds into their PS3 units. However, although the interface and functionality is similar to the PS3 (albeit "cheaper" looking), the BDP-BX37 does not .support the formats the PS3 does (or even...  Read more reviews

I was looking at the Oppo BD-83 for a while. I waited, because I don't think paying 500.00 for a Blu-Ray player was worth it. I knew the Sony 1000ES was 700.00. So, I still was hesitant. I wanted a player that did what a player is suppose to do, just play discs, with GREAT picture and Audio. Bells and whistles belong on Cell Phones, even though thi...  Read more reviews

This player does not stream Netflix or Amazon on demand. Unless you really need wireless (although i can't see the point with this player if you cant stream any internet content), I'd suggest a cheaper DVD player. Or skip the DVD player all together and buy a ROKU...which is what i ended up doing after 3 failed attempts at buying one that played ...  Read more reviews

This was our first Blu-ray player and I have been very impressed with the unit. The wireless connectivity was very easy to setup and has worked very well with Netflix for streaming titles and accessing other online content. The picture quality of Blu-ray is striking compared to DVD when viewed on our Pioneer plasma HDTV(we have an older model Pio...  Read more reviews

I have a Sony large-screen TV that's pretty darned good. A Sony home theater system-in-a-box that's okay. But the BDP-S570 doesn't work. I've spent a month, a lot of time on the phone with Sony, and extra money for networking equipment; I've replaced the unit I had for another, and it's still DOA. I've returned the replacement unit for a refund, an...  Read more reviews
